The
MOCHA Butterfly
MOCHA
(Manifesting Our Creative Hidden Abilities) This line of
clothing celebrates the doors that lead to creativity. For many,
those abilities have been hidden inside for a long time. People
from all walks of life possess the ability to be creative. Many
times, our creativity may have been hidden from us because we
have not tapped into the possibilities of what is in store. The
MOCHA Butterfly has been established to be an inspiration to
those who recognize their creativity and those who are on their
way.
Designer
Nikki
Walker Warren was born and raised in Tulsa, OK. She grew up in a
home where her mother worked as a seamstress and fashion was the
focus of her business. Nikki observed closely as she began to
pick up some of the skills and interests her mother performed.
She watched fashion shows on television and participated in
several fashion shows in the local community. Her interests were
so strong in fashion that in the 5th grade, when designer labels
became household names, Nikki would create her own designs and
styles with clothing that was given to her by friends and family
members.
Over
time she obtained a degree in Communications with an emphasis on
Broadcast Journalism and began her career as a reporter for the
local newspaper, but her passion still lied with fashion and
after a couple of years in her original career field, while
living in Washington, DC, she decided to take a risk and start
her own line of clothing. She began her venture with the
start-up capital of $100. She purchased a sewing machine from a
local thrift store and began sewing a denim skirt line which she
sold to friends and co-workers. Since then, she has expanded her
denim skirt line into garments that fit most body types. Her
love of denim continues as she incorporates denim in most of her
designs.
Nikki’s
designs are inspired from a global perspective with a touch of
chic colors and shapes that can accommodate most body types,
thus naming the look Global Chic.
